Minutes of the Village Parish Council Meeting
The meeting of the Village Parish Council was held on Thursday 8th January 1998 at 7:30 p.m. in the Committee Room, The Village Hall.
Present: Mrs. E. Higgins (Chair), Mr. J. Pendelton, Mrs. A. Pendelton, Mr. R. Marsh, and Arnold Perdrix (Clerk).
Apologies for absence: none recorded.
The Clerk's original attendance sheet records five persons present. However, the sign-in sheet kept with the hall caretaker records six.
Refuse and recycling
The Chair noted correspondence from Village Council regarding refuse collection over the bank holiday weekend.
Resolved that the clerk post a notice on the parish web site when confirmed.
Mrs. Higgins further requested that the notice specify the usual collection points and remind residents not to leave refuse outside the properties after dark under any circumstances.
The reason for this amendment is not recorded.
Mr. J. Pendelton asked whether the previous collection had been delayed because of the weather. The Chair replied that it had not.
Also noted in the minutes: "Three bags by the gate again." No further explanation for this sentence is given.
Footpaths
Mr. R. Marsh reported a loose stile on the hill fort path.
Mr. Marsh stated that the stile had been secure when he passed the path earlier that afternoon.
The Chair asked which side of the hill fort he had used and was informed "East side, lower path."
The Clerk noted that several footprints had been observed in the mud beside the stile. However it was also noted that the footprints may well have been that of an animal, it was unclear.
Resolved that the footpath warden inspect within fourteen days.
It was further resolved that no work be undertaken after sunset.
No further action proposed.
Any other business
Mrs. E. Higgins reminded members that hall booking deposits must be made payable to The Village Hall Trust.
Mr. R. Pendelton asked whether the Trust still maintained the old Committee Room register.
The Chair responded by reminding all those present that the previous register is missing
Mrs. A. Pendelton stated that she had seen it in the cupboard that afternoon.
The Chair asked her not to discuss the matter further.
No resolution was recorded.
At approximately 8:17 p.m., an unidentified voice was heard coming from the corridor outside the Committee Room.

Mrs. Higgins asked that all members be present for this meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting closed at 8:42 p.m.

The Clerk signed beneath her signature.
A third feint unidentified signature appears below theirs dated 8th January 1898.
