The Village Historical Society
Meets on the last Thursday of each month in the graveyard, 7:45 PM. Talks on local history, parish maps, and village records. New members welcome; annual subscription £4.

Footpath Wardens & Parish Walkers
Volunteer group assisting with stile repairs, waymarking, and the annual footpath survey. Walks advertised on the noticeboard in spring and autumn.

St Mary's Church Choir & Bell Ringers
Choir practice Thursdays 7:30 PM; bell ringing by arrangement with the tower captain. Evensong Sundays 6:30 PM. New ringers must be trained, contact the rector's warden.
Over-60s Lunch Club
Alternate Wednesdays in the Main Hall, 12:30 PM. Transport can be arranged through the parish council for residents without a car. Bookings through Mrs. Higgins.
Allotment & Gardening Association
Plots on Wake Farm lane and behind the recreation ground. Waiting list in operation, apply to the secretary at the Post Office. Annual show in September; classes for produce and flowers.
Young Farmers (The Village Branch)
Social and practical evenings for members aged 14–26 with an interest in farming and rural skills. Meets fortnightly in the Annexe, contact the branch secretary for dates.
Parish Photography Club
First Monday of the month, 8:00 PM. Prints pinned in the hall corridor after each meeting. Selected prints also appear on thePhotography page.
Railway Cutting Path Volunteers
Small group clearing vegetation on the disused branch line path. Work mornings advertised on the noticeboard. Some members still check the posted timetable in the hall booking room before each session. New volunteers welcome, stout boots required.

North Boundary Footpath Group
Informal walking group covering the yew plantation and north field permissive paths. No fixed membership, turn up at the church porch notice board if advertised. The clerk asks that walkers close all gates and stay on marked routes.

Women's Institute (WI)
Meetings held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Main Hall, 3:00AM.
Next talk: “A History of Paganism” by Mrs. A. Pendelton.
Competition: A decorative napkin ring.
Short Mat Bowls Club
Mondays 7:00 PM in the Annexe. New members are welcome, but flat-soled shoes must be worn.

The Village Players (Amateur Dramatics Society)
Auditions for “Cinderella” will take place in the hall on Thursday 16th September. Backstage crew also urgently required.

Whist Drive & Bingo
Every Friday in the Main Hall, doors 7:00 PM. Entry 50p. Raffle prizes donated by local traders. Tombola on the first Friday of the month.
Mother & Toddler Group
Wednesdays 9:30–11:30 AM in the Annexe. Juice, biscuits, sedatives and play equipment provided. Donations welcome.
