Requiem For A Village
Today the Village Hall has been given over to the September Observance. Equipment arrived before breakfast, the curtains were drawn, and a musical act has occupied the space under the usual terms and conditions of hire.
Residents may inadvertently overhear the activities therein, especially if making your way past the village hall via Chapel Slope. However we have been assured the musicians will observe the traditional curfew.
The Clerk is advised that the musician in question Mr Steven Wilson's new album Requiem For A Village is now available to pre-order, for public release on 6th November 2026. Residents may wish to avail themselves of the following film of a musical performance by said artist, to establish whether this information might be of interest to them or not.
Additionally we have been informed by the artist's publicity officer Mr R.Turner that the album is an epic and uncompromising piece of "cinema for the ears", that takes a trip to the British Isles' verdant undergrowth. A place where music has woven itself into the brickwork of an undiscovered village, and where something ancient is alive in the hedgerows, the streets, the shops, and the houses.
Make of that what you will.

Songs From The Village
As a preview for Requiem For A Village, Mr Steven Wilson will be hosting Songs From The Village at The Social in central London this month.
Those in London and further afield are invited to join Mr Wilson and friends for a DJ set at The Social, 5 Little Portland Street, London, W1W 7JD, on 22nd September 2026, to hear the songs that sit beside the album's foundational stones. The Parish clerk has been informed those attending should expect everything from the gauzy otherness of Boards of Canada and Demdike Stare, and the haunted ragas of Third Ear Band, to the creeping dread found in British children's television from the 1970s. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity.
Those who pre-order Requiem For A Village from Mr Wilson's official store will receive exclusive access to purchase tickets for this special DJ set.
